BERLIN, May 2 (Reuters) – Germany expects the European Union to secure a permanent exemption from U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminium after President Donald Trump granted a temporary reprieve, a German government spokesman said on Wednesday. “It is important and it was right that the EU and U.S. have had close talks … in the last few weeks,” spokesman Steffen Seibert said, adding it was important that this continues. “Our expectation … is that there will be a permanent exemption for the European Union.”
