(MB) Scrap traders will no longer able to import into China solid wastes deemed as ‚restricted‘ for use as raw materials, according to the latest ordinance issued by the country’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP).Under the new regulations issued on December 15, only end-users who are in the business of processing solid wastes will be allowed to apply for import licenses for scraps listed as “restricted imports”. Such end-users will need to own the scrap processing yards, facilities and equipment used, and be equipped with anti-pollution facilities and measures, according to the new regulation.
